I have known Lionel for the past 17 years and have served with him on the South Carolina Synod State wide Commission on Inclusiveness for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. In this capacity Lionel served often as a catalyst and a wise insightful advocate to how we as a Church can become a more intentionally diverse community of believers. The two things I value most about Lionel is his honesty and his sense of humor. He has a good moral spiritual compass that helps inform his words and actions and he has the ability to laugh at himself and to find good humor in a variety of situations.
